Parent coaching is a collaborative, family-centred approach where an occupational therapist works directly with parents or caregivers to support their child’s development. Instead of focusing solely on the child in therapy sessions, this approach empowers parents with practical strategies, knowledge, and confidence to manage everyday challenges and support their child within natural environments such as home, school, and the community. A key strength of parent coaching is its focus on building long-term, sustainable outcomes. Parent coaching can be delivered flexibly, including via telehealth or in the Bundle Jnr clinic setting, making it an accessible and practical support option for many families.

Parent coaching is particularly beneficial for families of children with developmental differences, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing challenges, or delays in skill development. It is also helpful for parents who are navigating a new diagnosis, waiting for ongoing therapy services, or seeking clearer guidance on how to support their child.

Common areas addressed in parent coaching include:
· Managing emotions
· Co-regulation,
· Supporting transitions,
· Improving sleep routines,
· Building independence in self- care tasks
· Enhancing emotional regulation
· Sensory processing needs
· Addressing school-related concerns.Parents are also supported to understand therapy recommendations, reports, and broader systems, enabling them to advocate effectively for their child.

Yes, sessions are designed to be parent-centred, providing a space for open discussion and information sharing. However, we understand that circumstances vary, and children are always welcome to attend if needed.
